U.S. News and World Report cites the growth of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers and, more importantly, the need for quality STEM education to prepare students to work in STEM-related fields.

Below are educational resources compiled by the Florida Energy Forum to assist students and teachers interested in STEM-related fields (The Florida Energy Forum does not endorse nor recommend any of the programs or services. STEM-related Careers

There are of two ways to look at STEM-related careers. First, you have careers that directly utilize STEM skills (e.g., science, technology, engineering and math). Secondly, there are careers in fields at STEM-related companies that may not directly involve STEM skills. For example, in the oil and natural gas industry, STEM-related careers may include petroleum engineers, geologists and chemists. However, there are many jobs that do not require traditional STEM skills, such as finance, marketing, administration, pipefitting, welding, trucking, construction, etc. The resources below contain more information:

College Scholarships

Below are scholarships available for college students. Please take careful note of application deadlines.

Florida Engineering Society
The Florida Engineering Society scholarships are generously funded by the Florida Engineering Foundation, Inc. (FEF). Established in 1986, FEF is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit entity whose mission is to encourage and assist students in pursuing engineering careers and to educate the public about engineering.

Dr. Abdus Saleem Family Scholarship
Each year, five scholarships of $10,000 each are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership experience and volunteer service.

Davidson Fellow Scholarship
The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to extraordinary young people, 18 and under, who have completed a significant piece of work.

NSHSS Foundation STEM Scholarship
The NSHSS Foundation provides STEM scholarships for underrepresented groups in order to help reduce financial barriers for those with academic and leadership potential and the desire to pursue STEM careers.

U.S. Department of Defense, the Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship
The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers Foundation Scholarships
A scholarship is considered by ASME to be a grant made to a student to enable or assist the student in pursuing an educational program in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Society of Women Engineers Scholarships
SWE Scholarships support women pursuing ABET-accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science in the United States and Mexico.

The Committee on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Education (CoSTEM) was established in 2011 to coordinate federal programs and activities supporting STEM education.
